My name is Jean and I an a descendant of a now nameless woman who lived over 25,000 years ago on the eastern side of the Black Sea in what is now the Republic of Georgia. This woman's female descendants split, some migrating west to Europe and others went east into Asia, and eventually the New World.

After reading "The Seven Daughters of Eve," by Oxford geneticist Brian Sykes, I decided to have my mtDNA (maternal DNA) tested. My testing revealed that I am in Haplogroup X, which means I am in the "Xenia Clan." Only 6% of Europeans and 1% of Native Americans are in this unique haplogroup. My mother passed this delineation on to me, just as her mother and her mother before her. In return, I have passed this DNA sequence on to my daughter and all my daughter's daughters to come!! My DNA mutations (yes, I have mutations!) are: 16183C, 16189C, 16223T, and 16278T. If you have had your maternal DNA tested and are in the X Haplogroup, please feel free to email me!
